Here’s something I made as a tribute to Satoru Iwata. Not only was he the president of my most beloved video game company, he was also a programmer, helping to make some on Nintendo’s most classic games. Without him, Pokemon Gold and Silver would not have contained the Kanto region, which was one of my favorite things about the game that defined my childhood more than any other. He was also the lead programmer for Earthbound, helped to create the Kirby series. He learned the original Pokemon’s battle code and ported it to stadium in a single week and fixed Melee’s code to ensure it met release date.

Not only was he one of Nintendo’s greatest programmers, he was an entertainer, and loved to make Nintendo’s fans laugh. How many other company’s CEOs would present themselves to millions, staring at a bunch of bananas?

An exceptional president, an exceptional programmer, and a man with an exceptional passion for creating games that make people smile, we will always remember him.
